eyeglasses clinic

Hope4Sudan's mission is to introduce the people of South Sudan to Jesus Christ and to disciple them to follow Him. Over the years, we have continued to develop new methods of evangelism and ways to meet their physical needs as well. In 2024, we held our first official, full-scale eyeglass ministry clinic. It was met with apprehension and appreciation. This was the first of its kind in South Sudan. This ministry uses technology and equipment that can be operated by properly trained staff. Paired with the equipment and hundreds of pairs of eyeglasses to store, we quickly realized that a separate building for the eyeglasses clinic was a necessity. It was built mid-2026 and is now open for business on a limited scale. It is already proving to be a tremendous asset to the area.

donated equipment

Hope4Sudan is grateful to Bridge Builders International, Inc. for donating this equipment to our ministry. Rev. Jerry Morris, founder and director, felt our ministry was a better fit for this type of service than their multiple short-term mission trips. It took a lot of effort and luggage to haul the equipment and glasses on each trip.

Five individuals were trained here in the U.S. by an organization that created this system. After practicing on volunteers here, three were able to travel with the 2024 Hope4Sudan medical team to Kapoeta. The team carried in a lot of luggage and supplies to make this first one-of-a-kind clinic happen.

We asked Greg for a team to train so the ministry could continue once our group left. He lined up four young adults, and it was great to see each one excel in various aspects of the process.

Hallelujah moments!!

We wish you could have been there to experience this with us. However, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here are a couple of “Hallelujah” moments and smiles as people realized what they had been missing. We look forward to continuing to provide these moments as the ministry moves forward under the guidance of the Hope4Sudan staff. If you would like to help us continue this ministry, we invite you to give to the eyeglasses ministry by clicking on this link. On that page, simply choose the eyeglass ministry from the dropdown list and follow the prompts to give a one-time or recurring gift. There are still mountains of eyeglasses to be transported to South Sudan through Kenya, and that is an expensive endeavor. We will also need to keep the equipment updated and in working order.
